I loved the HGTV show "Holmes on Homes"
which featured the heroic contractor who saved
victims of poor-contracting and unsatisfactory renovations.
Occasionally, we get calls to come and redo jobs
that didn't turn out quite right. Here are a few of our favorites below:
THE SWAY-BACK SHE-SHED!
This sway-back shed needed some shoring up!
Built with an unfortunate bowed back,
this cute little she-shed left the clients unimpressed.
We re-supported the roof from the inside
and pushed the rafters up to the proper height,.
Better now!
SIDING GOT SOAKED:
As our clients prepared to close on this house,
they needing a siding situation repaired ASAP!
We got right to it; but here's what we found:
As we removed the layers of warped siding,
we discovered that it had been installed directly on/touching
the roof shingles, causing the siding to soak up water.
This popular type of particle board siding has to have
proper spacing and flashing installed to protect it
from the elements (rain, snow).
AFTER:
Once the proper flashing was installed,
we re-installed the siding correctly,
caulked and painted.
Our clients were able to close on time
and move into their new home.
Our clients were able to close on time
and move into their new home.
WELCOME HOME!
This client decided it was time to investigate a crack
in their stucco before water damage became an issue.
And add a window where there was none.
BEFORE:
AFTER:
From the inside, water damage was visibly
more extensive than we had imagined.
With the water damage and rot gone,
we prepared the hole for a window installation.
We created custom trims to match
the other trims in the house.
And another structurally-sound job completed!
