Screened in Porch

An open patio becomes a Screened in Porch,

complete with plastic panels to keep the cold out in winter.

 

Originally, the patio was open,

with just a few support beams obstructing the view of the back gardens.

 

 

Above, framing in for the screening has begun,

with an 18" high wall along the bottom to keep the rain out,

without hindering the fabulous view.

 

Painting the framing to match the house gives it

a seamless look, as if its always been that way.

 

Now, the room is complete, with plenty of seating.

The patio has become a sunroom,

adding an entire additional room to house.

 

Two screened doors are added to access the gardens and garage.

Our client had several ingenious ideas for this design:

 

Marine Plastic:  its completely clear

 and heavier in weight so it will stand up to strong winds.
The plastic panels can be removed and stored
in Spring to let in the warmer weather!

 

And, below at right, using 2 vintage doors as part

of the wall; a fun design element showcasing favorite flea market finds.
