Nothing like taking a space and making it happier!
This kitchen needed an update, but it had really good bones!
A little (maybe more like a lot) paint on the cabinets,
re-creating an island,
and--of course--some spiffy new appliances
breathed new life into this ol' space. And look at it now!!!

TAKE THE TOUR:
After inspecting the existing cabinets to make sure they were in good shape,
Scott (the Danish carpenter :) got to work on tear-out.
That may just be his favorite part.
With the large "elephant in the room" gone,
the kitchen already felt more spacious!
We configured an island with plenty of storage out of oak cabinets:
Modern track-light fixtures and some stylish pendants over the island
replaced the dated fluorescent fixture:
Black granite tiles create a classy countertop
and a dark stain on the island and trims tie it all together:
The cabinets get a light shade of sophisticated gray.
The black sink blends with the tile, complete with a new brushed-satin nickel faucet:
Starting to come together!
(That's a chiaro stone tile BACKSPLASH in subway pattern--new favorite!)
Hardware on the island and those new stainless-steel appliances really pop!
And that old bar-top? Gone!
Replaced with a walnut butcher-block top. Beautiful!
Favorite design feature:
instead of removing existing dark wall paneling,
client chose to have it painted the same color as the cabinets.
The walls are a very soft shade of gray, while the cabinets and wall panels
went a shade darker. Love that look!
