Here, we have a combination of
2 garage additions we did in 2012.
Both required a gabled extension,
and so I have combined the photos to give a
consecutive photo shoot of the process.
Take the tour:
This simple carport needed to be enclosed.
There are lots of reasons to enclose a carport:
KEEP OUT THE ELEMENTS (rain, cold, dust/pollen, critters)
SAFETY: it's nice to be able to pull into your garage and close door
securely behind you before getting out of your car.
EXTRA SPACE: we built an entire laundry room inside of
the second garage extension. Of course, this space can also be insulated,
heated and cooled to provide a large living space (fun room, den, etc).
Here, you see the extension shaping up.
Structural integrity is a key element, and one that Scott takes very seriously :)
Here, the gable extension is forming up. For both additions,
the new gable mirrors the existing gable of the house, though slightly larger.
Finally, the siding goes on to tie it all together.
(Finish pictures are actually from 2nd addition, sorry for inconsistency)
Garage doors come in all styles; this one is a very tasteful cottage look,
which suits the house well.
Large lanterns accentuate the new extension.
Final product:
an addition that mimics existing home,
while providing needed new space.
