FUJII, our largest project yet!

During the infamous year of Covid,

we chose to take on a fixer upper.

A solid house with lots of potential,

a beautiful setting in a great neighborhood.

Perfect for weathering out the storm of 2020.

Fujii, BEFORE:

That tile, the stairs, the chandelier!
The salmon color throughout.
(view from the front door):

Step 1:
When in doubt, tear out walls!

And MOVE THE STAIRS...
Not my first choice, but Scott was adament.
And he was right!

With the wall separating the entry from kitchen/living room
removed, and the stairs no longer the first thing you see...

...we've got an OPEN FLOOR PLAN!
Seamless wide-plank flooring throughout
(love that luxury vinyl; so durable)

Entry AFTER:

(notice the stairs-- now go down at the far left of the living room)

Tour the Fabulous Fujii House
(We loved our life chapter here!)

Entering in the front door, you immediately
have an open kitchen bathed in lots of natural light.

Our custom color-- I call "studio white"
provides an airy backdrop for artwork and
lots of wood tones--on the cabinets, floor, etc.

The kitchen detail:

A large butcher block island provides
extra work space, a 2nd sink and ice-maker.

The Master Suite:

Throughout the house, paint and new flooring
made the biggest difference. Modern
fixtures, barn doors and hardware helped too.

The Master Bath received: new vanity, mirrors, flooring

The shower and tub tile was in great shape,
so we just added black hardware and a glass door:

A 2nd suite was perfect for guests!
I added pops of color for energy, but once again,
paint and fresh flooring helped the most.

The small bathroom got a granite countertop.
Modern gray paint on the vanity, a white subway
backsplash, and black hardware complete the look.

A private, cozy sitting room:

Downstairs, (yes, we moved those stairs
to the back of the living room),
we added a stained accent wall.
Fresh paint lightened up the basement space!

(photo below:)
The reading nook behind the couch is actually
where the stairs used to come down!

An office space tucks neatly under the new stairs:

And two more bedrooms got a face-lift:

The Jack & Jill bathroom got a quick
update of gray paint on vanity, a modern granite
slab remnant and new fixtures:

Finally, the backyard needed a living space to enjoy.
A large concrete patio received a patio cover and pergola:
