This party deck was ready for a redo,
and with two decks to rebuild, it was twice the fun!
The original deck was showing years of wear;
even walking on it was not for the faint of heart.
"Support" posts were mere 4x4s...
As we began to disassemble the existing deck,
several issues were uncovered:
the upper stair landing had almost completely separated
from the upper deck. Scary...
And several rotten areas added to the instability:
Scott beefed up the deck with larger floor joists
and ran beautiful, weather-resistant redwood decking.
A shady lower deck provides plenty of room
for parties and barbecuing in the evening.
A grand staircase leads up to the sunny upper level.

The upper pergola will be draped with canvas

Perfect spot for morning coffee:
… and to enjoy the view!
