When Scott and I moved to Boise,
we purchased Silver Spur and set about renovating
it during the cold winter months of 2016.
We took our time and explored the area,
but we had already begun the VISTA FLIP
property by June of 2016,
so we really renovated two houses that year.
SILVER SPUR RENOVATION:
We really fell in love with this house
when we saw this photo of the living room online:
It said, mountain cabin retreat,
groovy fireplace,
but wait ... pink carpet.
But all those windows!
And that ski cabin fireplace...
and the tongue and groove ceilings!
... and that pink carpet.
What we really wanted to see was this:
We really did enjoy that fireplace.
The winter of 2016/17 was one of the worst on record
for this area. They were seriously passing out Snowpocalypse badges.
But we just sat in our little "ski lodge" and watched all that snow fall.
No more pink carpet!
We found a plank vinyl flooring that complemented
the amazing wood ceiling.
World Market was my go-to for light fixtures in this house.
(Yes, that is a massage chair. We came to Boise with
no furniture, but that was probably purchase # 3 :)
THE KITCHEN
... had to be renovated.
Because metal-pin-stripe cabinets was apparently
a thing in the early '80s:
Thank you, Craigslist.
These "cool" cabinets are now in someone else's house.

AFTER:
These are our absolute favorite cabinets now.
We've used them in three kitchens already.

VIEW OF DINING ROOM:
(why not pink carpet and unfinished wall cabinets
in a dining room?)
DURING:
AFTER:
COFFEE NICHE / BAR:
Natural stone tile in a mini-subway
to complement larger tile backsplash in kitchen.
AFTER:
DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM:
This space is worth mentioning because
it was originally blue. So unique.
AFTER:
THE ENTRYWAY:
I love how this turned out. Removing
the closet door and making it an open space
really worked for us.
And we did keep some of that pink carpet.
UPSTAIRS:
The stairs lead you right up to this great
ski-lodge themed bathroom
with wood-surround extra-large Jacuzzi tub.
AFTER:
BEDROOMS:
more unfinished cabinets.
Great for storage, I guess ...
AFTER:
I love high ceilings. And this paint.
I called it "studio white" and it made the house
feel so bright and modern. And was the perfect
backdrop for that amazing piece of art from our friend Becky!
BEDROOM #2:
We preferred to use this as our TV den.
And Scott built the cutest little loft bed up above,
which our grandgirl loved!
THE LOFT OFFICE:
This space was perfect for our desks.
Open to the living room, it also had views
of the Boise downtown and foothills through the skylights.
AFTER:
THE MASTER SUITE:
We loved the windows, skylight,
openness (even to the bathroom)
and balcony deck.
AFTER:
We removed the door from the bed area
and put it at the other end of the room
where there was a bright and cheerful sitting area.
MASTER BATH:
Because this space was visible from the bedroom,
we encased the walk-in closet wall with cedar,
which also accented the dark vanity and flooring.
We enjoyed this house through all the seasons of 2016.
It was a great retreat from the long hours of
sweat equity at the Vista property in Nampa.
And the neighbors were the best we've had.
