Support Beams

Removing a wall between the kitchen and den is one of our most common requests.

Common reasons include: 
  • the kitchen feels too small, closed off from rest of house
  • I want to feel connected to my family when I'm cooking
  • during holidays and parties, everyone wants to congregate in the kitchen
There is a simple solution:  remove the wall.

Of course, a wall often exists to provide structural support.
 
 
 
In order to remove the wall,
a support beam can be used in place of the wall.
 
This client chose to leave the beam as an accent.
The beam can also be hidden by drywall so that it essentially disappears.

Basic wiring is required; moving receptacles and switches
to fit new wall configuration.
 
 
 
A new backsplash on the pony wall seals the deal.
